- The metallic baby cot bed is painted or powder coated which
are of various types like epoxy coating, polyester coating,
nylon coating etc.

- Some baby cots are completely made of wood. Various types of
wood are used like pine wood, oak wood, teak, plywood, timber
etc. which are give different finishes depending on customer's
specification.

- Whether it is wood or metal, the surfaces should be free of
splinters, cracks and be painted with lead-free paint. This will
prevent baby from suffering from lead poisoning if he has the
tendency to bite or lick the cut surface when he is teething.

- The baby cot bed has bars on all sides and the space between
them should not be too large. Cot slats should be between 5 and
7 cm so as to prevent baby's head from being trapped between
slats.

- Drop side railings. But, the cot sides should be secured when
put up.

- Foam safety mattress, quilt and bumper set - included in some
cots. The mattress should fit snugly so that baby cannot get his
arm, leg or even his head trapped by the sides .

- Rolling casters to move the cot easily.

- The depth of a cot must be a minimum of 60 cm to prevent baby
from toppling over when standing.
