General Hospital Bed
The beds in a hospital are generally divided into two categories:
  • General Category: 70% of the hospital beds are earmarked for general patients, where care is subsidized by the hospital.

  • Private Category: 30% beds are in the private wards.
General hospital beds are those beds which are used for patients in the general category. General medical beds are the most widely used beds in community or municipality or general hospitals where the patients are poor, cannot afford to make use of other comfortable beds in the hospitals.

Features of General Hospital Bed
These beds are simple, plain hospital beds without any additional features. These beds typically consists of a frame, box spring and mattress. These are not adjustable beds like the electric, or semi-electric or manual hospital beds.

Plain hospital beds are of two types:
  • Plain hospital bed with bar
  • Plain hospital bed with back rest
These beds are heavy and sturdy but these hospital beds are appropriate when there is someone around to help the patient.

Product Description
The frame of the plain medical bed is made of various materials like steel, iron, aluminum etc. The bed frame is painted or powder coated of various types like epoxy, polyester, nylon, acrylic coating etc. The surface of the bed can be made of steel and can be perforated sheet top or wire mesh. Some plain hospital bed tops are wooden. Some plain medical bed also come with metal tubular frame and wooden headboard and leg board and wooden top. The wood can be of various types like teak, plywood, oakwood etc. with different finishes as per customer's requirement. Some beds come with a fixed mattress which is foam padded. However, in most general medical beds, separate mattress is provided. The plain medical bed legs stand on rubber shoes. The bed is of fixed height.
